A Wednesday (in three parts)

Part One: What's up with geeks and poker?

Lately, I've noticed a trend. Geeks everywhere are getting into poker...big time. First it was Wil Wheaton (who I am not in love with, no matter what Jessi says), the it was the rash of poker threads in the Lounge and now it's our friendly contractors from Haverstick. Is there some hip new breed of computer professional that I don't know about (okay, I know Wil's not a computer professional)? Doesn't anyone play Dungeons & Dragons anymore?

It's not like I care, really. I play my share of card games (althoug I prefer euchre to poker, really). It just strikes me as kind of odd. Is poker the new chess?

Part Two: Is George W. Bush determined to do his best Nixon impression?

Seriously, dude. I don't care what people say about you, you can't be this stupid. You have some very bad men around you. If you want to avoid doing the "I'm not a crook" shuffle out of the White House, start firing and disavowing these mofos as fast as you can. Do something I can respect you for...for once.

Part Three: The part in which Sam attempts to recapture his childhood through the use of polystyrene and Testors paints.

Lately I've been yearning for a new hobby. Although my montly D&D games are good for getting away from the CRT and engaging my brain and imagination for a while, they're just not frequent enough for me. I need a creative outlet and my "creative ADD" has hobbled my two traditional methods (writing and sketching). So, I've turned to a childhood hobby - model making. As an adolescent, I was fond of building simple models - usually ships from the Star Trek universe. Nothing fancy - I was never really much good, but it was fun. In an effort to encourage my pursuit, Jessi bought me a set of model paints, brushes, sandpaper and glues. I've been trawling eBay lately and think I shall pick up one of the simpler TOS-era Enterprise models and get started. I will work through the various Star Trek time periods and build the major Federation and Klingon warships for each era. It should be fun!

In any case, that's all I can muster at 10:00AM on a Wednesday. Have a good hump day everyone.

-Sam
