Friday Observations & Ruminations
I know I'm not posting as much these days, but things have been a little crazy. Still, I'd like to take some time on this only modestly-busy Friday to talk about a couple of things. Just general chit-chat, nothing too serious (well, there may be one work rant a bit further down in this post, but I'll keep it brief). So if you've got some time, read on. If not, I promise that you're not missing much.
A few things that I've noticed this week that are screwed up.
- In Indiana, you must now present a valid form of picture ID to buy non-prescripton cough syrup. You only need to confirm your name and address (no ID required) to pick up a prescription for Vicoprofen. WTF is up with that?
- A small silver hoop worn in a man's ear is considered unprofessional and is thus verboten under my New Republican Overlords™. The miniskirt and hooker boots that one of our unit clerks was wearing today are apparently considered professional. Go figure.
- Despite feeling like crap for the last two weeks, I've been losing weight and my blood pressure is under control for the first time in years. My doctor asked me how I'd managed to do that. I was just as puzzled as he was.
- Quinine is sometimes used to treat leg cramps. Whodathunk?
So...what else is new? Oh, we're going to the circus tonight! Attending the circus every year has been a tradition in my family since I can remember. Once upon a time, it was just the six of us - my parents and us four kids. Tonight, the Clan Ferguson will be rolling into Conseco Fieldhouse fourteen strong - the orginal six, two spouses, one almost-spouse and five grandkids. Holy crap.
In any case, I'm awfully excited about aminals and candy and GIANT MOTHERFSCKING PRETZELS. Be happy for me.
Jessi and I spent some time the last couple of days with the Call of Duty 2 demo. If you get a chance, download it. We were pretty impressed.
What else, what else...
Oh, yes I'm happy that DeLay finally got nailed. Let's hope it sticks. And the giant squid thing was cool too.
I need to tell you all a story about what I'm officially calling "Unemploymentgate," but I'm a bit busier this afternoon than I thought I would be when I started this post. I'll see if I can enlighten you as to the newest fiasco within the Daniels administration next week.
For now, everyone have a good weekend.
-Sam
