Tanzania, bacon omelets and the death of a hard drive
Last night, myself, Jessi and her friend Samantha from work all went to Papa's in Fishers for dinner. I had my usual, an omelet with bacon and american cheese. There are no words to describe the joy that I feel in my soul when I see the server emerge from the kitchen with my omelet. It's like all of the happiness and physical pleasure in the world are all contained in that yellow sleeping bag of goodness (so, basically the same way I feel about scotch eggs. It was awesome.
Speaking of scotch eggs, myself and a few folks from Ars met up at the Broad Ripple Brewpub. There were scotch eggs. There was Lawnmower IPA. Good stuff.
Anyway, after my delicious dinner last night, the Fates decided to smite me once again this morning. My beloved Western Digital SE appears to be dying. I can't even boot into safe mode (although Linux strangely boots up fine...but locks up about ten minutes after coming up). Fortunately, I believe I'm still under warranty so I just need to get an error code from WD's diagnostic utility and ship it off for replacement.
In news of future exploits, Jessi has signed on to accompany her brother to Tanzania in February with a group called the Peace House Foundation. They will be building a school/orphanage in the northern city of Arusha, near Mount Kilimanjaro. We don't have the specifics set up yet, but we're going to need all the help we can get raising Jessi's requisite $3,000 for the trip. So if you know anyone who'd like to give us a hand, shoot me an email. Alternatively, check out their website and find out how you can get involved to help the millions of children in Africa who have been orphaned by the war, extreme poverty, famine and disease that are ravaging that continent.
So, that's about all for this Wednesday. I'll probably go home tonight, have some dinner with Jess and Samantha and watch another episode of Band of Brothers - Sam hasn't seem them yet, and I always enjoy watching BoB with new people.
