Amazing, a new post less than a month after the last one. This might work out after all...
First, news from Samland:
Our raises at work still haven't come through. In light of this, the replacement plan for my computer has been put on hold in favor of a more modest upgrade path. I'm going to keep my motherboard, memory, processor and drives. Being replaced will be my venerable GFTi4200 vid card (being swapped for an MSI GF6600GT that I just ordered today from NewEgg), my trusty 19" ViewSonic monitor (probably being replaced with the Samsung 910T) and a new set of Creative speakers I found on eBay. While I'd rather have a sexy S939 board and some SLI action for video loving, it just ain't gonna happen. No biggie, with a more modern vid card and a spankin' new display, my rig should once again fall squarely in the "rockin'" category.
I finally broke down and got myself another cell phone. I didn't want to, but I'm away from home more and more these days and people occasionally want to talk to me (and I occasionally want to talk to them). I was torn between getting a traditional plan from the likes of Verizon, Sprint or Cingular and a prepaid plan of some sort. I settled on a compromise from a company called Venture Mobile. They're basically a reseller for Sprint, but they allow you to purchase the plan on a month-by-month basis (as opposed to automatically billing you each month or making you buy minutes at an inflated rate). This lets me avoid getting hit with overages while allowing me to cancel the plan any time I want. Cell service without a contract is good, m'kay?
Their selection of phones was a little limited, but I ultimately settled on the Sanyo SCP-8100. It was all-around the best phone they had listed, although I didn't necessarily want a camera phone. According to FedEx, it arrived at my home this afternoon and I'm looking forward to playing with it when I get home.
In some very good news, my girlfriend and I have decided to move in together. Actually, we decided this months ago but we're just now starting to look for apartments and whatnot. I'm excited not only about living with the most wonderful woman in the world, but also setting up a new place. Rest assured that it will have an excessively pimp network setup ;)
In any case, I suppose my employers would like to see me do some work so I'm going to have to cut this break short. Maybe I'll think of something more interesting to say in a couple of days. There are some news items I'd very much like to comment on that I don't quite have the time for right now.
